Instabact is a recently-established, innovative Italian startup. We developed a patent-protected Israeli technology and applied it to the microbiological self-monitoring system of the food industry. Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes and E.coli can be identified and quantified easily thanks to our integrated system available for leafy vegetables. The system will be extended to other foods as well.
47% of food product recalls is caused by microbiological issues. Currently in the USA and Europe, 47% of product recalls (almost half of all recalls) is due to microbiological issues (Source: Swiss RE). Throughout the production chain, the potential contamination of bacterial pathogens such as Escherichia Coli, Listeria, Salmonella, etc. is one of the most serious threats to the whole sector and to consumer health.
This problem is exacerbated by the slow speed of the analytical methods currently used to detect dangerous bacteria. As a matter of fact, especially in the case of fresh products, test results are made available only after the product has already been released for distribution and retail or, even worse, after consumption.
